MUSEUM OF MENSTRUATION AND WOMEN'S HEALTH

Beltless adhesive sanitary maxi menstrual pad, Kotex, U.S.A., 1974
Kimberly-Clark Corporation

First page.

Thanks to Tambrands, former maker of Tampax, for this donation,
part of a large
gift of products to this museum.

Below: The maxi pad. The paper strip covers the sticky tape that fixes the pad to
the inside of panties. The blue is a thin, probably non-permeable cover to prevent leakage.
The pad came as you see it: no wrapper.
Below: Peeling up the strip exposes the adhesive tapes, which are still very sticky. But they don't hold the paper strip any longer - I tried.
The blue below is closer to the real color than the blue above.
Below: The vulva side of the pad, which has (of course) no (blue) leakage cover. It's white in
spite of the various colors created by the scan.
Below: Side view. The pads were still thick.
Below: I cut open the pad from the side to show vulva side (left) and the blue
covering of the panty side.
