See two letters to MUM about the ingredients

The Lydia E. Pinkham Medicine Co., maker of medicine for headaches,
constipation, menopause, insomnia, depression, cancer, tumors, women's diseases,
flatulence, menstruation, fertility, douches, kidneys, etc.:
"Stretching Your Dollar" (1920s?
U.S.A.)
Complete pamphlet
I dated this pamphlet - one of many from the company - from the hairstyles,
dress ,and some textual evidence about household appliances.

Below: Back cover. Each page measures 4
1/2 x 6 7/8" (11.3 x 17.5 cm). Look at the exaggerated
height of the women, which lends style.
Only the front and back covers have a second color, red,
in various screens. Some ladies have elegant ways
of being sick, don't they?
|
Below: Front cover. As you see, the paper
pamphlet is not in good shape. As a matter of fact, the wood-pulp paper
is crumbling before our eyes - mine anyway.

The Schlesinger Library, of the Radcliffe Institute
for Advanced Study, part of Harvard University, has probably the
largest collection of material about the Pinkham
enterprise, the records of the Lydia E. Pinkham Medicine Company.
Part of the donation of SarahAnne Hazelwood to this museum, much of
it patent medicine and old medical equipment, was a very interesting biography
and study of Mrs. Pinkham's business, Female Complaints:
Lydia Pinkham and the Business of Women's Medicine, by Sarah Stage.
