Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram newspaper published this ad on 23 August 1961; Tambrands generously gave it to this museum.Of the three documents here, it gives the most complete idea of what colleens was. The opening ad copy is outrageous - just my opinion.The ad copy says that it held more "considerably more fluid than the best-known tampons," a statement that would strike fear into women a decade or so later with toxic shock and Rely tampon.Read the Dickinson report, which the ad mentions. Note the references to flowers, including "bloom," "blooming," "flower-like" and "bud."
